Tahirah Latifah Shareef
Peace and Blessings; I am Debutante Tahirah Latifah Shareef, I am currently attending Cass Technical High School. I am thrilled to be among the four young ladies debuting at this esteemed event. I am the daughter of Mr. Rahman Shareef and Mrs. Tamorah Shareef. I will be accompanied by Allen Carter, son of Mr. Brandon Carter and Ms. Ricarla Carter. Les Meres et Debutantes Club of Greater Lansing was established in 1962 by a group of nine pioneering women, including Esther Abrams, Hortense Canady, Lela Eaton, Mattie Foxall, Robbie Harris, Catherine Harrison, Estella Saunders, Shirley Wills, and Dorothy Wilson. Our organization is unique because Les Meres (the mothers), provide and facilitate all the programming, mentoring and funding for the debutantes (the daughter).

The club focuses on developing the debutantes' academic, civic, social and moral strengths and creates a venue to showcase their accomplishments. This "coming of age" process begins in the sixth grade and culminates in a formal ball "The Cotillion" in the twelfth grade.
Community service is a vital component of the club. Our organization is distinct in that Les Meres (the mothers) oversee all programming, mentoring, and funding aspects for the debutantes (the daughters). The club's primary focus is developing the debutantes' academic, civic, social, and moral strengths, while providing a platform to showcase their accomplishments. Throughout my involvement with Les Meres et Debutante Club of Greater Lansing, I have achieved various academic and extracurricular goals, including writing encouraging letters to March of Dimes families, participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring, resulting in 676 donated food items to families in need, and serving as a greeter at the 116th AKA Founders Day Celebration 'Something to Brunch about.', I recently had the privilege of volunteering with LMTS Community, where I assisted in distributing 500 turkey boxes to families in need. Additionally, I participated in the Ray of Sunshine event, helping to provide backpacks to families requiring support.
My community service efforts also extended to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, where I collaborated with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. As a member of NSSH and the 2025 Honor Society, I have been involved in various initiatives, including Grits, Guts and Glam and Pretty Brown Girls. Upon graduating from high school, my plans entail attending Hampton University, to pursue a major in Psychology with a minor in Music. As I prepare for Cotillion night, I kindly request your support during this Cotillion season. Your prayers for a successful event, as well as consideration for purchasing tickets and congratulatory ads for our Souvenir Book, would be greatly appreciated. For your convenience, tickets and ads can be obtained through my website if you have any questions please reach out to La Mere Tamorah Shareef at (517) 410-0044 or Tamorah@hotmail.com
